Smoky Valley Farm & Supply is your Livestock Show Supply Headquarters, but we did not start out that way. In fact, we started out as just Smoky Valley Farm, a family farm where we raise purebred Simmental cattle for the seed stock market and enjoy our passion for horses. During our search for the right nutrition for our livestock and equine friends in 2011, we were lucky enough to have a friend recommend Rowe Nutrition feeds. Within a short period of time on Rowe we watched our animals bloom! Within a month our friends were asking us what we were doing differently with our animals. Sure enough we became a feed dealer almost overnight. During the process of becoming a Rowe dealer, I discovered the best part of my job is sharing my knowledge with our customers. Gene Rowe, my mentor, is a fountain of nutrition and business knowledge.
Over the years Gene Rowe helped cultivate my passion for animal husbandry and nutrition. We have spent countless hours discussing animal husbandry that I get to share with my customers. As our expertise increased our business grew exponentially and we built a store front for our customers. Over the years our product offerings grew to include Purina, Buckeye, Weaver Leather, and many veterinary and farm supply products. When our local 4-H and FFA members come to us for assistance with their projects, I am there. The one thing my husband Randy and I enjoy most is watching our local 4-H and FFA members grow, learn and take pride in their accomplishments. Our summers are spent happily in the stands of the local fairs supporting youngsters as they show off all their hard work, with their well-fed livestock! Yes, I have to admit tears of joy fall each time those we cherish get that Grand Champion slap, or that Supreme Champion handshake.
In the spring of 2019 we had the opportunity to sell our feed segment to our local Agway store so we could focus on our Livestock Show Supply business and our family. Since then new opportunities for our own young children to show have blossomed. Our son, Cody, is working hard and having fun showing his Simmental heifers, while our daughter, Lizzie, is enjoying learning how to ride horses.
Above all else, we are thankful to have such loyal and wonderful customers who have made it possible for us to grow our business beyond the feed. We are grateful to have the opportunity to create an innovative Show Supply business that offers the best customer service possible to our patrons, while having the time we need to be able to cultivate a love of animals and farming in our own children.
We know farming. We know the risks and the rewards, the heartbreaks and the moments of absolute joy that come with it. We hear your stories of how your heart was broken last night as you lost your favorite goat during kidding, or how that prize cow finally had that long awaited and beautiful healthy heifer calf yesterday. We understand it, we live it, we feel it, and we are blessed that you, our customers, allow us to be a part of it all.
